NANDAS

The successors of shishunaga were overthrown by the Nandas, who ruled from 361 to 321 BC. The Nandas succeeded in establishing a mighty Nanda  empire. Mahapadma Nanda was the most powerful ruler of this dynasty, who captured large areas of the Deccan and Kalinga. The last ruler of this dynasty was Dhana Nanda, who ruled at the time of Alexander's invasion of India (326 BC).
